What

Registers review.ruleSelector, a boolean setting (default false) settable at org, team, user and machine scope. Adds its zod schema, a "Reviews" console group, and the regenerated schema lock.

Why

A team pack reads this flag at review time to turn on its rule selector. Every key must be registered before it can be read or set.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added a Reviews section to settings, including a rule-selector toggle.
    • The toggle is available at team, user, and machine scopes and is off by default. When enabled, it controls whether the team’s review flow uses the rule selector on each review.

Walkthrough

The settings registry adds review.ruleSelector as a boolean setting. The console adds a “Reviews” group for settings with keys that start with review.. Registry tests include the new setting.

Changes: Review setting registration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Define and group the review setting
packages/rt-client/src/settings/registry-defs.ts, apps/console/src/app/settings/groups.ts, packages/rt-client/src/settings/__tests__/*
The registry defines review.ruleSelector with team, user, and machine scopes, a false default, and replace merging. The console groups review. settings under “Reviews.” Registry tests include the new setting and its missing-schema status.

Possibly related PRs

  • m4ttstack/mattstack#948: Adds rule-selector behavior to the review, self-review, and receive-review engines that the registered setting enables.
  • m4ttstack/mattstack#949: Continues rule-selector implementation in self-review, including selector and unanswered-rule changes.
Merge Risk: Low · up to b035d

Organization-level configuration is unavailable, but narrower scopes still work; add the missing scope before or shortly after merge.

Security architecture risk: Low · up to b035d

The change uses existing settings validation and ownership controls. However, organization-wide configuration is unavailable despite being part of the stated contract. The external review consumer was not available to verify the flag’s downstream security effects.

Retained concerns

  • Low · architecture · observed: The new setting allows team configuration but excludes organization configuration. This breaks the existing team-implies-org contract and prevents organization-wide configuration and rollout of the flag. Organization values are rejected on write and ignored during resolution; this is a control-plane contract defect, not a demonstrated authorization bypass.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The demonstrated exposure is a new scalar configuration value in existing team, user, and machine stores. Effects on review rules, repositories, or other assets cannot be bounded without the external consumer.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Registration does not add an alternate persistence path. Existing writes enforce declared scopes and value validation; shared team writes retain active organization/team selection and ownership checks.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — The inherited writer validates edits before temporary-file replacement and cleans up temporary files on ordinary failure. Atomic replacement does not serialize concurrent read-modify-write operations; that limitation predates this PR, and no flag-specific security regression was established.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "settings: register review.ruleSelector" matches the main change. The PR adds the review.ruleSelector boolean setting to the registry, with its default, scopes, and merge behavior. It also adds the group, schema-related test updates, and the suite key count change. The title names the key and the action, and it follows the repo's scope-prefix style. It does not describe every detail, which is expected.

Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 4 files.

Major · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Preserve the team-first scope order.

withOrgScope adds org after team. This explicit org entry bypasses that helper and leaves org as the first scope. The registry test rejects this order, and the first scope controls stable settings grouping. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Define the scopes without org and let the helper add it.
