That helper exists becausefile_stemgives the wrong result for a legacy.mdpath: it strips the.mdextension, whilestem_of_handlestrips only.jsonl. Moved the transcript writing logic out of the parent module into a dedicated writer module to keep the session transcript code better organized. No behaviour changes. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Move the legacy session rewrite logic into its own module so the conversion path is easier to follow and test in isolation. Behaviour is unchanged. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Extracted the legacy transcript rewriting logic out of transcript.rs into a dedicated legacy/rewrite module so the compatibility path is easier to find and maintain. Behaviour is unchanged. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add tests for the legacy transcript rewrite covering preservation of recorded tool declarations, unreadable session directories being reported as errors rather than silently skipped, and symlinks being neither followed nor rewritten. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Extend the test module's imports to bring write_transcript into scope so the legacy rewrite tests can exercise transcript writing. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Background transcript tasks now release the turn lock on cancellation instead of leaving it held, which previously blocked subsequent turns from acquiring it. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Moved the background task tracking and cancellation logic out of the transcript module into a dedicated background submodule. This keeps the transcript code focused on message storage and makes the background task lifecycle easier to reason about on its own. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add tests for the background transcript task covering spawn, completion, and cancellation paths so regressions in the lifecycle are caught. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The test locator's trait methods now reference TranscriptRead through its full crate::transcript path, matching the trait definition and keeping the test compiling without an extra import. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The transcript rewrite now keeps existing agent file entries instead of dropping them, so files registered by an agent survive a rewrite. This prevents losing agent file state when the transcript is regenerated. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…pty, and the stat is blank to Could you paste the diff (or the stat plus the relevant hunks)? Once I can see the direction of the changes, I'll produce the Conventional Commits message. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add tests asserting that a compacted sub-agent and its successor generation count as a single run with the carried turn counted once, for both the file walk and the locator walk. Also verify that subagent chains order generations numerically rather than lexically. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add a driver that renders session transcripts for display. This provides the presentation layer needed to show stored transcript data to users. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Reworked the filter assembly to build the prefix and thread conditions in a single match instead of mutating an optional and falling back to an unreachable branch. The behaviour is unchanged, but the intent is clearer and the impossible case is no longer asserted. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Move the transcript display logic into its own driver module under the session port so the display concern is separated from the rest of the port surface. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add a test asserting that a display read re-indexes a thread whose index refresh was lost after a write, mirroring the existing read repair case. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The repair test now performs the display read through a handle obtained from the locator rather than the history object, so it covers the case where a handle's replay has not indexed the write, as after a refresh that failed every attempt. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add tests for dropping legacy roots once an unscoped session root exists, ordering pre-identity roots by creation time rather than name, and verifying that prefix ranges match only the intended stems. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Adoption now gathers candidate roots from the entry log as well as the index, so a root whose durable write outran its index refresh is still folded instead of being dropped from a fold that never runs again. A failed log scan defers the call, and candidates whose recorded thread does not match are skipped. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add a test asserting that a legacy root whose index entry was lost is still discovered and folded into the adopted history, so adoption does not silently drop durable transcripts when an index refresh fails. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Move the transcript projection logic out of the view module into a dedicated project module so the projection concerns are separated from the rendering code. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Reformat long expressions, imports, and trait method signatures across the session transcript module and its tests to satisfy rustfmt. No behaviour changes. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…handling Adds a changelog entry covering the review follow-ups: legacy transcript rewrites preserving recorded tool declarations and counting unreadable directories and entries as errors, thread spend treating a compacted sub-agent's `.gN` chain as a single run, and shared session adoption in `AgentTranscriptFiles`. Also notes serialisation of background appends without a destination key and the driver-backed store index repairs. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly

If a caller reuses an assistant TranscriptMessage that already has turn_usage, this condition accepts it whenever its tool-call list is empty. Both the file writer and row-store path then persist that usage, and thread_spend counts it as another billed turn, despite the background-append contract stating that usage totals remain untouched. Reject or clear turn_usage rather than accepting usage-bearing rows as plain deliveries.
