Backups save a compressed copy of an installation's data to a separate folder, so if a world gets corrupted you can restore a backup and keep playing.
Note: backups aren't a guarantee. If a world was already damaged before the backup ran, there's nothing a backup can do about it. Restoring one has never failed in practice, but treat it as a safety net, not a certainty.
Configuring backups
Set the folder you want backups saved to, then choose which installations to back up. Watch: configuring backups
Making backups
Once configured, go to the Installations page and click the backup button on the installation you want. If automatic backups are enabled for it, RiftLauncher also makes one right before launching the game. Watch: making a backup
Restoring backups
Go to the Installations page, open the three-dot menu on the installation, and use the restore backup button. From there you can also delete individual backups. Watch: restoring a backup
Deleting backups
To free up disk space, open the same three-dot menu, go to the backups list, and delete the ones you don't need with the trash icon. Watch: deleting a backup
