Agent: Implements the complete adversarial-review follow-up.

What changed

  • make profile-scoped repository metrics truthful when collections are partial, preserve unavailable traffic as null, and anchor active-repo calculations to generation time
  • add explicit empty/loading states, truthful frame-zero values, long-name handling, clearer typography, and accurate language proportions
  • reduce default render duration and sampling, publish WebP by default, and keep GIF opt-in
  • harden renderer cleanup, require an explicit entry point, validate packed renderer usage, and include the runtime Remotion CLI
  • add release tag/version preflight with idempotent npm publication
  • align Remotion and Zod versions and typecheck the usage example

Verification

  • pnpm verify
  • pnpm test:package
  • live public-stats WebP smoke render: 900×460, ~17 seconds, 2.8 MB (previous asset was ~8.4 MB)
  • git diff --check

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added clear fallback states for incomplete profile, language, activity, and repository metrics.
    • Added validation requiring an entry point when rendering cards.
    • Added package type-checking support in the example project.
  • Enhancements

    • WebP is now the default animated output format; GIF generation remains available as an opt-in.
    • Updated animations, typography, and metric displays for improved consistency.
    • Rendering now uses shorter, smoother output with improved cleanup after failures.
  • Documentation

    • Updated rendering guidance and examples to reflect WebP-first output.

Walkthrough

The change updates stats schemas and normalization for incomplete data, adds unavailable states to Remotion cards, makes WebP the default output, improves rendering cleanup, pins package versions, and consolidates release publishing.

Changes

Stats normalization and contracts

Layer / File(s) Summary
Stats contracts and normalization
packages/schemas/*, packages/remotion/src/data/*, packages/diffler/src/*
Schemas now expose profile completeness and nullable traffic values. Normalization and merging preserve these states. Presentation generation validates profile metrics before use. Tests cover incomplete collections.

Remotion rendering

Layer / File(s) Summary
Incomplete metric card states
packages/remotion/src/cards/*, packages/remotion/src/components/*
Cards display unavailable or pending states for incomplete metrics. Language and timeline cards render empty states. Metric primitives accept string fallback values.
WebP rendering and cleanup
packages/remotion/src/render/*, packages/remotion/scripts/*, packages/remotion/package.json, packages/remotion/README.md
WebP is the default format. GIF remains an explicit local option. Rendering uses updated frame rates and encoding settings and cleans temporary files on failure. The CLI now requires --entry-point.

Packaging and release

Layer / File(s) Summary
Workspace packaging and release validation
.github/workflows/*, scripts/*, examples/remotion-usage/*, packages/*/package.json, pnpm-workspace.yaml, README.md
Release publishing uses a validated workspace script. Package and peer dependency versions are pinned. The example joins the workspace and package tests verify current tarballs and CLI validation.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 2eeb0

This PR can still publish misleading profile and language metrics for partial collections or year-boundary replays, and a failed props-file write can leave temporary files behind. These are concrete correctness and cleanup risks, so merge should wait for fixes or explicit owner acceptance.

Use params.fetchedAt for the active repository year.

generatedAt uses params.fetchedAt, but activeOriginalRepos uses the process clock. A replay that runs after a year boundary can produce metrics for a different year than the generated output.

Proposed fix
-  const currentYear = `${new Date().getFullYear()}`;
+  const currentYear = `${new Date(params.fetchedAt).getUTCFullYear()}`;

Agent: Also fixed the outside-diff year-boundary finding in 0e943b4: producer-side active repository metrics now use the UTC year from fetchedAt, with the existing stats test pinned to a historical generated year.

* feat: include anonymous private repository metrics

* fix: keep private aggregates opt-in
