Reason for this is just a slight change in pytest impl.

Solution

If you're in a hurry, fork the repo and fix the following func....

def pytest_configure(config):
    pudb_wrapper = PuDBWrapper(config)

    if config.getvalue("usepudb"):
        config.pluginmanager.register(pudb_wrapper, 'pudb_wrapper')

    pudb_wrapper.mount()
    config.add_cleanup(pudb_wrapper.unmount)

config._cleanup.append(pudb_wrapper.unmount) (on the last line) must be updated to config.add_cleanup(pudb_wrapper.unmount)
