feat(approval): scope receipts carry the subject handle; approvals keep path and command members available (contract 1.18) - #24
Conversation
…ep path and command members available Contract 1.18. A host that serves many subjects keys its callback stores by the sanitized handle, which it now reads from the registration receipt. Configuring approvals no longer refuses ValidatePath, CheckPath, CheckCommand and the egress members: only a required audit does. …asks for it A 1.17 host decodes receipts with deny_unknown_fields, so a new always-present field made the minor bump non-additive. The handle now travels only when the registration sets report_handle, and never on a retirement. Part of tinyhumansai/openhuman#7328 Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

Part of tinyhumansai/openhuman#7328 (phase 4, the host's approval engine moves onto the module).
Why
OpenHuman's approval gate now runs on this module's
EvaluateApproval2lifecycle. Moving it exposed two things the module has to change before a multi-subject host can use approvals:ApprovalStore2,AuditSink2andApprovalPrompt2carry the module's sanitized subject handle (a domain-separated digest of the subject). A host that registers an unbounded set of subjects at runtime (RegisterApprovalScope2) must key its stores by that handle, but could learn it only by reproducing the module's derivation, which is internal. The registration, replacement and retirement receipts now return it (ApprovalScopeReceipt2.scope_handle).requires_bound_audit()was true whenever approvals were configured, soValidatePath,ValidateParent,CheckPath,CheckCommand,ScopedUrlGuard,ScopedEgressCheckandConsumeEgressAuthorizationall failed withrequired audit needs bound permission. They are separate permissions that never ask a human; only a required audit (a durable event per permission) can refuse them. A host that turns approvals on must keep validating paths and commands. What changes
ApprovalScopeReceipt2gainsscope_handle: SubjectScope(contract 1.18, additive: a 1.17 host keeps working against a 1.18 module, a 1.18 host refuses a 1.17 module).require_unbound_permissionrefuses only when the configured audit is required. The tool-permission members (Evaluate,Checkand their scoped and audited forms) still cannot returnAllowonce approvals are configured, because a tool call must go through the durable lifecycle.Tests
configured_approvals_keep_path_and_command_members_availableloads the module through the authenticated bus with approvals configured and validates a path, a parent, a protected-path query and a command. It fails without the change (required audit needs bound permission).scope_handle(subject); the bus wire tests pin the new field and the 1.18 compatibility rule.required audit must prevent unbound permission) still passes.Summary by CodeRabbit
