feat(storage): roll up TinyMCP TSD v2 migration - #132
Conversation
Storage migrations and the local backend now live in tinymcp rather than the bus crate, and the storage-driver dependency moves to the 2.0.1 fork so the host owns typed repositories and migrations while the bus contract only carries pure collection payloads. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The EmptyFirstRead and AppendDuringRead test stores now forward the new append_batch_if_offset method to their inner store, keeping them in sync with the StreamStore trait. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Update the vendored tinybus submodule to the latest upstream commit. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Update the pinned tinystoragedrivers git revision to 7acd22d and the version to 2.0.2 across the workspace and the bus crate. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…ation storage_schema now returns a Result instead of panicking on an invalid owner, and callers propagate the error. The audit stream migration is split into helpers with a corrected target check and a final source-length guard so a source that changes mid-migration is reported as a conflict rather than silently dropped. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Reindented the audit stream migration body and added a clippy expect for the long migrate function. No behaviour changed. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The `#[must_use]` attribute on `storage_schema` was dropped since the function returns a `Result` that callers already handle, making the lint redundant. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Moved the module call checks out of main into a dedicated verify_module_calls function so the example's entry point stays focused on setup and teardown. The broker task is now aborted in main after the helper returns, keeping the shutdown sequence in one place. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Convert the blocking bridge and repo tests to return a boxed error result instead of unwrapping, so failures surface as test errors rather than panics. The reentry and panicking-job cases now assert on the error value directly, which keeps the intent clearer when a call unexpectedly succeeds. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace truthiness checks on migrated streams with explicit equality against an empty vector, and use slice::from_ref instead of cloning single-element fixtures. The test-only MemoryProvider re-export and StorageBackend import were also moved to their cfg(test) positions so they are only compiled for tests. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Qualify the test result alias as std::result::Result so it no longer shadows the storage Result type, and switch the bridge panic test to resume_unwind so the payload is not wrapped. Also collapse a few over-formatted assertions and imports, and drop a stray blank line. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
feat(storage): host-bind TinyMCP storage ports
Add a legacy storage module and re-export its conversion types and functions from the storage root so callers can migrate legacy server documents and name claims. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The migration steps for servers, name claims, and audit streams now call the conversion helpers in tinymcp-bus instead of reimplementing the legacy-to-current mapping locally, so both crates agree on the resulting documents. A new legacy_tests module covers the shared behaviour. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Added doc comments to the legacy and current server, name-claim, and document body structs so the migration contract is self-describing. Also tidied import ordering and test formatting, and dropped an unused serde_json::Value import from the legacy tests. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The legacy server name claim conversion now wraps the owner fields in a ServerNameClaimBody struct, leaving only the derived id at the top level. This matches the document layout used elsewhere so the claim can be stored and serialized as a body alongside its key. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The legacy server-name claim conversion now returns a typed body struct instead of a flat record, so the migration path serializes that body directly rather than rebuilding the JSON object field by field. The conversion tests and the storage re-exports were updated to match. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The test expected the tilde in the storage id to be percent-encoded, but the conversion leaves it as-is, so the assertion now matches the actual output. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Reordered the tinymcp_bus storage imports and added the AUDIT_STREAM import to the migration tests. No behaviour change. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace the Default::default() call with an explicit BTreeMap::default() and import the type so the test's intent is clear. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add tests asserting that a legacy server or name claim with an unparseable timestamp fails the owner migration with a descriptive error, leaving the original document untouched and no converted record behind. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly

The legacy record shapes and their conversions now live in the tinymcp crate, which owns migration behavior, so the bus crate only carries the pure collection payloads. The bus storage feature gates data-encoding and sha2 behind the same flag since they were only needed by the removed code. advancing past the captured source length so the existing source-length recheck
and deletion logic can run.
- Line 109: Update both target-length checks in migrate_audit_streams to use
stream_len instead of calling streams.len directly, so a missing target stream
is treated as length zero, matching the source-side behavior.

Extend the AppendDuringRead test double with flags to append before the length read and to report empty streams as missing, then add tests asserting that an append landing before the captured source length is preserved and retried, and that a missing target stream is treated as empty. Auto-committed-on: cuttlefish Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The bus crate now pulls tinystoragedrivers-types and its testkit from the workspace instead of pinning a git revision inline, so the version is managed in one place. The audit migration also clamps each source batch to the remaining stream length and routes length lookups through a helper, preventing over-reads when a source reports a shorter length than the underlying stream. Auto-committed-on: cuttlefish Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The store integration tests now construct their in-memory storage through MemoryBackend and StorageBackend instead of the removed memory_storage helper, keeping the tests aligned with the current storage driver API. Auto-committed-on: cuttlefish Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

Revalidate legacy rows before recreating destinations
When two first opens migrate the same scope, both can retain the same legacy page; after opener A writes and deletes the legacy row and returns, a user can uninstall that server before opener B reaches this cross-collection Precondition::Absent. B then sees the destination absent and writes its stale snapshot before checking the source again, resurrecting an install the user removed; recheck the source version or completion marker immediately before the insert, or serialize document migrations per scope.

Document why data-encoding is shared
The new data-encoding workspace entry has no preceding explanation of why it is needed or which crates use it, unlike the neighboring entries, so the shared dependency list loses the design rationale required for additions; add a comment describing its composite-key digest use.

Summary
Roll up TinyMCP's TSD v2 host-storage migration and typed legacy-record conversion into the current upstream main line. The PR pins
vendor/tinybusto canonical TinyBus main,11b0a728e62a5b7ae213c1cf6366f82b9e1a65de.It includes senamakel/tinymcp#16 and senamakel/tinymcp#18. Migration behavior lives in the TinyMCP module crate; the bus crate retains contract vocabulary. Legacy collections and audit streams are included in the state probe and migration grant.
TinyMCP setup requires a configured host storage callback; the module has no process-local memory fallback.
Gitlink compatibility
Canonical TinyMCP main at
56d29626376b45834a25b8e0be877d635a90ac72still pins TinyBus1f33d1be1901a2d44bfe674cd7cf294cf3848821. That older TinyBus revision lacks APIs required by the merged TSD 2.1.0 dependency. With that gitlink, cargo check -p tinymcp --all-features --locked --offlinefails intinystoragedrivers-busproxyon missing stream callback types and methods. The PR keeps TinyBus at its current canonical main tip11b0a728, where the same locked cargo check passes.Dependencies and remaining integration
TinyStoragedrivers #83 and TinyBus #97 are merged and their APIs are available from main.
TinyBus #99 adds a host-authoritative child callback binding needed to give a reset root an isolated storage scope. TinyMCP still needs to consume that host reset binding before the root-reset review finding can be resolved. The PR remains open while that contract integration is completed.
Verification
Local checks passed on the current TinyBus gitlink: full workspace coverage (including 90.62% line coverage for
storage/migrate.rs),cargo check -p tinymcp --all-features --locked --offline,cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --all-features --offline -- -D warnings, andcargo fmt --all -- --check.Hosted run 39766441330 has passed test, clippy, MSRV, docs, formatting, and supply-chain. Coverage, platform feature tests, and module E2E jobs are still running. TinySweeper's commits check passes after removing the generated
coverage-local.jsonfrom the current tree; its old blob remains in published history and is documented in a PR comment.Part of tinyhumansai/openhuman#8131.
