The protected-prefix check only matched when the requested path was the same as or below a protected prefix, so a grant covering an ancestor of a protected directory slipped through. The comparison is now symmetric so that either direction of containment is rejected, and the existing test was reformatted to match. Add tests confirming that a protected prefix blocks its canonical spelling through a symlink alias, that explicit writable grants cannot promote shared cargo git and registry caches, and that git ignore patterns cannot smuggle in config include grants. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Add a Unix-only test asserting that when a credential root such as ~/.ssh is a symlink pointing outside the home directory, resolving local jail grants with the home directory as an extra read-only path yields no read-only grants, so the requested ancestor stays protected. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Protected roots are now compared under both their configured spelling and their resolved target, so a symlinked root no longer lets a grant slip past the credential and prefix checks. Writable grants that would reach the shared Cargo git or registry caches are refused, and git ignore files are granted read-only directly instead of being collected as config includes. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Clarify that configured roots keep both alias and canonical spellings, and that ignore pattern files are granted without parsing configuration includes. Also note that writable extras cannot promote shared Cargo caches or expose them recursively. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

Add a unix-only test asserting that the credential floor still protects aliased credential locations when the home directory itself is reached through a symlinked parent. The fixture nests a symlink to an outside directory under an aliased home and checks that no read-only grants are produced for either the direct or the missing-path credential root. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Protected roots whose parent directories do not exist yet were only matched by their literal spelling, so aliased locations under a symlinked parent could escape the credential floor. Root spellings now also walk up to the nearest existing ancestor, canonicalize it, and re-append the missing components before normalizing. …oolchain paths Add tests asserting that extra read-write grants cannot replace Cargo executables or launch configuration, and that automatic toolchain roots cannot be promoted through writable descendants. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Read-only grants for toolchain, gitignore and gitconfig paths are now tracked as fixed, and writable grants that reach them are refused. This closes a hole where a writable grant on an ancestor directory could replace Cargo executables or poison discovered git configuration. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Clarify that automatically discovered read-only toolchains and Git configuration cannot be promoted by writable extras, and that Cargo executables and launch configuration stay protected even when discovery is disabled. Add two unix-only tests asserting that discovered git config symlinks stay read-only when their parent directories are granted read-write, and that duplicate targets reached through separate aliases each remain read-only. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The read-only grant was applied to the canonical target and skipped entirely when a config had already been visited, so a second request for the same target left its own link location writable and replaceable. Each requested path is now protected before deduplication, while the visited check still guards recursion. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

An empty XDG_CONFIG_HOME was previously used as a path, which resolved to a relative git/config and git/ignore and could grant ambient configuration. The value is now ignored when empty, and git include aliases that resolve through symlinks keep each logical sibling location so shared includes are granted per directory. Add a test asserting that backslash continuation lines in git include paths are joined, and one asserting that a writable grant for a directory does not grant a git include target that does not yet exist. The existing xdg_root expectation is corrected to match the current behaviour of returning None for a relative config root. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Git config include paths now join backslash-continued lines the way Git does, including inside quoted values, so includes split across lines are resolved correctly. Missing include targets are recorded as fixed read-only locations to keep future host Git execution consistent, and XDG_CONFIG_HOME is only honoured when it is an absolute path. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The empty XDG_CONFIG_HOME test now asserts the exact fixed read-only paths instead of expecting none, so it verifies that the home gitconfig and config/git/config candidates are still collected while ambient git/config and git/ignore are not. Add a test asserting that conditional include sections using a horizontal tab between the section name and the quoted condition are parsed, so the tab-separated form stays supported. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Section names in git config headers can be separated from the bracketed name by a horizontal tab, which previously caused the include detection to miss such sections. The tab is now treated as a delimiter, and the existing test was reformatted to match. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Move the local grant discovery checks out of the end-to-end test into a verify_discovery helper so the assertions can be reused, while the test keeps ownership of broker shutdown and task cleanup. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

Move OpenHuman’s local jail grant discovery into TinyBox and expose it through
ResolveLocalGrants(contract 1.9). Hosts supply their protected-path floor; TinyBox expands grants, discovers toolchain paths, follows bounded Git include chains, and rejects both protected requested names and canonical targets, including credential-root ancestors./procis reserved for the explicit read-only toggle.Shared Cargo Git and registry dependency caches are discovered read-only to prevent jailed edits poisoning a later host build’s dependency code. Mutable toolchain operations require separately authorized disposable state. Automatically discovered read-only toolchains and Git configs cannot be promoted by writable extras; Cargo executables and launch configuration remain protected even with discovery disabled. Explicit manual read-only/read-write precedence is preserved for other paths. Protected Git config includes stop recursion. Directory grants also reject protected component names and pairs in their existing subtree, with fail-closed limits of 1,000,000 entries and 128 levels; nested links are not followed and pair-prefix symlink aliases are rejected. Discovery is a snapshot and cannot deny protected filenames created after admission. Git include values preserve quoted markers and strip unquoted trailing comments. The UTF-8 bus rejects non-UTF-8 targets and bounds the complete discovered grant set.
This is the upstream grant prerequisite for tinyhumansai/openhuman#7391, part of #7390. Shell selection, native execution, Docker policy/lifecycle and shell-analysis adapters remain separate work. OpenHuman must consume a released module before changing its adapter/gitlink.
Validation: affected bus/jail/module suites pass (268 tests, zero failures, five existing ignores), Rust 1.99 full-workspace/all-target/all-feature Clippy and formatting pass. Every behavior defect has a regression confirmed failing before its fix. Discovered Git-config link locations remain fixed read-only even when multiple aliases resolve to one target. The integration test unconditionally builds the actual dynamic artifact with
--locked --offline, admits its complete manifest through TinyBus and invokes discovery. Windows staging uses a private ACL rather than bypassing admission. Head 3e1c67e passed both hosted Rust/macOS/Linux/Windows/MSRV/docs/supply-chain matrices; the latest subtree/parser fixes rerun those checks. Local full-workspace/all-target/all-feature build also passes. Per-file grant implementation line coverage ranges from 94.63% to 100%.A full local workspace/all-feature run at 8be2a7e passed 974 unit/integration/doctests with zero failures and 5 existing ignores. The final Git-config-link correction at e5acb1a passes the 268 affected tests, full Clippy/build and formatting. Its complete local workspace retry encounters the same untouched SSH supervisor timeout tests under load; this latest full run is not represented as passing. No tests are skipped or weakened.
OpenHuman PR tinyhumansai/openhuman#7037 remains open and extends external toolchain-home behavior. That extension must be applied upstream in TinyBox when adopted. Package versions remain release-workflow owned.
