Infrastructure engineer, 17+ years. The job has been renamed four times along the way (sysadmin, DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineer) and the work underneath has been the same one: keep production reliable, observable, and affordable, and build the tooling that lets everyone else ship without breaking it.
I work at the boundary between infrastructure and application, which is where most production problems actually live.
