feat: report the lifecycle milestones a transition crosses - #10271
Conversation
Mirrors the animation side: the phase change picks the interval start or the interval end, so a property that re-enters a finished transition reports the time the web reports.
A removal or cancel arrives at a timestamp the provider has not been ticked to, so it owed the milestones crossed since the last frame: a cancel after the delay skipped its start, and one after the transition had already finished reported a cancel instead of an end.
📝 WalkthroughSummary by CodeRabbit
WalkthroughTransition progress providers now track lifecycle milestones and cancellation timestamps. Transition replacement and property removal pass resolved timestamps through ChangesTransition lifecycle reporting
Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes Mergeability Score: 🟡 Moderate · up to When a view is removed during an active transition, some properties may fail to report the cancellation milestone, so consumers can miss the expected transition cancellation event. The cancellation path should be corrected before merging. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

- Around line 239-242: Update CSSTransition::cancel() to resolve the
cancellation timestamp, then add CSSLoopTransition::abort(timestamp) and invoke
it before loop_->remove(...), forwarding the timestamp to the provider-wide
abort path. Keep removeProperty and removeProperties property-scoped so they
cancel only the affected properties, while full transition cancellation aborts
all active properties.

Reports the milestones each transitioning property crosses, so the CSS engine can turn them into transition events. Nothing consumes them yet.
Transitions run per property, so the lifecycle lives on the property progress provider and every milestone is tagged with the property name. The run lifecycle is reused unchanged: Created maps to transitionrun, Started to transitionstart, Ended to transitionend and an abort to transitioncancel; a transition never repeats.
Which time a milestone carries follows the phase change that produced it, per css-transitions-2. A cancel advances the property to its own timestamp first, so a removal landing after the transition finished reports the end rather than a cancel.
