Retired callback managers may remain retained indefinitely when teardown emits no native event, and an existing transform-path issue can return incorrect style values; merge should wait for fixes or explicit owner acceptance. `RunLifecycle` tracks which phase a run is in and reports the milestones each phase change crosses. It knows nothing about animations or transitions: the owner maps `Created`, `Started`, `Ended`, `Repeated` and `Aborted` to its own events. The phase changes come straight from the tables in [css-animations-2](https://drafts.csswg.org/css-animations-2/#event-dispatch) and [css-transitions-2](https://drafts.csswg.org/css-transitions-2/#event-dispatch), which agree on every row. That includes the rows that move a run backwards, which a style update reaches by re-timing a run that is already going or already finished. A milestone can be reached by more than one phase change, and the time it carries differs: a start is the interval start entering from a delay and the interval end re-entering after finishing. Hence `MilestoneTime`, used by the owners in #10070 and #10120. Pausing also moves out of the progress state, fixing an animation created with `playState: Paused` reporting `animationstart` while still paused and never once it actually started. Nothing registers a reporter yet. First step of the CSS animation callbacks series.
`PropertyPath` was a `vector<std::string>`, so
`ViewStylesRepository::getPropertyValue` could not tell an array index
from a record key and bailed out whenever a segment landed on an array.
Array-typed props (`boxShadow`, `transformOrigin`, `backgroundImage`)
could therefore never read the view's own style, so implicit keyframes
(`getFallbackValue`) and the `animationFillMode: 'none'` revert
(`getResetStyle`) silently used the interpolator's default instead.
A segment is now `std::variant<std::string, size_t>`, so an index stays
an index end to end. The loop's `isNull() || empty()` guard is dropped
rather than replaced: each branch already checks the type it needs, and
`folly::dynamic::empty()` throws for scalars.
One consequence: a `boxShadow` implicit keyframe can now be discrete
where it used to tween, because the view's own value always carries an
`inset` and the old default left it unset.
## Examples
The left box is a static `View` for reference. Each recording shows the
broken run, then the fixed one.
**1. `boxShadow`, only `to` declared** - swings between no shadow and
lime, never reaching the view's red.
```jsx
<Animated.View
style={{
width: 84,
height: 84,
boxShadow: '0px 0px 12px 6px red',
animationName: { to: { boxShadow: '0px 0px 24px 12px lime' } },
animationDuration: 1600,
animationDirection: 'alternate',
animationIterationCount: 'infinite',
}}
/>
```

**2. `transformOrigin`, only `to` declared** - swings from the centre of
its bounds, never reaching `0% 0%`.
```jsx
<Animated.View
style={{
width: 84,
height: 84,
backgroundColor: 'orange',
transformOrigin: '0% 0%',
transform: [{ scale: 0.3 }],
animationName: { to: { transformOrigin: '100% 100%' } },
animationDuration: 1600,
}}
/>
```

**3. `boxShadow` with `animationFillMode: 'none'`** - left with no
shadow once the animation finishes.
```jsx
<Animated.View
style={{
width: 84,
height: 84,
boxShadow: '0px 0px 12px 6px red',
animationName: {
from: { boxShadow: '0px 0px 4px 2px blue' },
to: { boxShadow: '0px 0px 24px 12px lime' },
},
animationDuration: 2000,
animationDelay: 1000,
animationFillMode: 'none',
}}
/>
```
https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/d21e9188-a5ef-4e06-81cc-7f7e326d538f
**4. `transformOrigin` with `animationFillMode: 'none'`** - lands in the
centre of its bounds instead of returning to `0% 0%`.
```jsx
<Animated.View
style={{
width: 84,
height: 84,
backgroundColor: 'orange',
transformOrigin: '0% 0%',
transform: [{ scale: 0.3 }],
animationName: {
from: { transformOrigin: '100% 0%' },
to: { transformOrigin: '100% 100%' },
},
animationDuration: 2000,
animationDelay: 1000,
animationFillMode: 'none',
}}
/>
## Testing
Ran the four cases on the iOS simulator with and without the change, so
`ViewStylesRepository.cpp` is the only difference between the runs. No
automated coverage - the repo has no C++ test target and ReJest has no
CSS category. Not exercised on Android, though the change is
platform-agnostic C++.
Makes `onAnimationStart`, `onAnimationEnd`, `onAnimationIteration` and `onAnimationCancel` fire on iOS and Android. They already work on web, and the shared types promised them everywhere, but native dropped them. Callbacks are passed inside `style`, alongside the other CSS config props. Only the subscription mask crosses the JSI boundary, never the user function, and it is pushed to C++ only when the set of present callbacks changes. A cancel emitted while the view is unmounting is still dropped here; #10255 delivers it.
#10241) The pre-draw listeners are registered on the window's `ViewTreeObserver`, which survives a React context teardown, so nothing removed them: after a reload they kept running every frame and retained the dead context through the manager. `NativeProxy.invalidate()` now tears the manager down alongside `pseudoSelectorManager`, cancelling the animators, dropping the pending starts and removing the listeners. The reconciler keeps `observer -> listener` pairs so removal is possible at all; a `HashSet` of observers gave nothing to pass to `removeOnPreDrawListener`.
Continue traversal after transform.
Line 158 returns the complete transform array even when propertyPath contains an array index or a nested property. A path such as transform[0].translateX then resolves to the full array instead of the leaf value. Continue the loop after selecting transform.
Adds a screen under CSS > Animations > Miscellaneous that attaches all four animation callbacks and logs each event with its `elapsedTime`, so the timings can be checked against the spec. Covers the cases that are easy to get wrong: a finite animation with a delay, an infinite one that never ends, and interrupting one mid-flight. The unmount button stays silent until #10255 lands, which is what makes that cancel reach the callback. Stacked on #10071.
The pre-draw repair re-asserts every running platform transition on every frame, but React can only overwrite an animated value on frames where it wrote props. A `UIManagerListener` records mounts and the repair returns immediately on all other frames, so the walk over running transitions happens at write rate rather than at the display refresh rate. That matters most after a transition settles: a persistent hold keeps its entry, so without the gate every later frame the window draws keeps walking the map. Measured on an emulator during a 3s transition, 201 of 240 pre-draw callbacks returned early. Synchronous updates run their mount item inline (`FabricUIManager.synchronouslyUpdateViewOnUIThread`), bypassing `MountItemDispatcher`, so no listener fires for them even though `opacity` is one of the props they carry. They therefore open the gate explicitly, which makes the invariant true by construction rather than by coincidence. Measured on device, such writes are rare and always landed on a frame where a mount had already opened the gate, so this is insurance rather than an observed fix. Identical in content to #10168, which this replaces. That one was based on the head branch of #10061, and closing #10061 instead of merging it left the base pointing at a branch with no live PR, so merging would not have reached `main`. GitHub refuses to change the base of a pull request that belongs to a stack, so recreating it was the only way to target `main`.
…10255) The engine emits an animation cancel as the view tears down, but the batch carrying it is dispatched once the view is already gone, so unregistering the subscriber at unmount dropped it and the callback never fired. Unmounting now retires the subscriber: it is unsubscribed straight away and kept aside, and the next batch is delivered to both the subscribed and the retired sets before the retired ones are let go. Unsubscribing eagerly rather than queueing the removal is what lets a frozen view that mounts again on the same manager stay subscribed by simply registering itself. This matches the web, where removing an element with a running animation fires `animationcancel`.
Mirrors the animation side: the phase change picks the interval start or the interval end, so a property that re-enters a finished transition reports the time the web reports.
A removal or cancel arrives at a timestamp the provider has not been ticked to, so it owed the milestones crossed since the last frame: a cancel after the delay skipped its start, and one after the transition had already finished reported a cancel instead of an end.
Add bounded cleanup for retired subscribers
When unmountCleanup() retires a callback manager without an active animation or without an animationCancel listener, native teardown emits no event. dispatch() then never clears retiringByTag, so the manager and its callback closures remain retained indefinitely. Add cleanup that does not depend on a native event batch.
Reports the milestones each transitioning property crosses, so the CSS engine can turn them into transition events. Nothing consumes them yet.
Transitions run per property, so the lifecycle lives on the property progress provider and every milestone is tagged with the property name. The run lifecycle is reused unchanged: Created maps to transitionrun, Started to transitionstart, Ended to transitionend and an abort to transitioncancel; a transition never repeats.
Which time a milestone carries follows the phase change that produced it, per css-transitions-2. A cancel advances the property to its own timestamp first, so a removal landing after the transition finished reports the end rather than a cancel.
