This PR updates the project documentation to better reflect the current maintenance reality of this repository.
In recent discussions around larger contribution proposals (#820, #795), it became clear to me that the expectations currently set by
README.mdandCONTRIBUTING.mdare too optimistic and no longer match what we can realistically review, merge, and maintain.The goal of this change is therefore not to discourage contributions in general, but to set clearer expectations upfront:
I would rather communicate that clearly in the documentation than leave contributors with expectations that we may not be able to meet.
