Run server on cloud?

Just an idea: to save normal users hassle and complexity with pulling and updating packages and installing dependencies, would it be possible to run the whole thing on our/external server and user just takes care of initial configuration (basically setting up the ips etc.).
So after initial setup user only needs account which stores the config and connects to our server, hosted somewhere for free - is this an option?

I have investigated port traversing but there is no way how to get through firewall for REST requests initiated from the cloud. Such requests are crucial for fast user experience because it can use DMA transfers.
It would only work for those users who have static public IP address which is very limiting.
Only solution is to run Rathole (https://github.com/rathole-org/rathole). Can you test on yourself if that is what normal user is able to do and be willing to do?
