Invitations Management

An Odoo application to keep a guest list: name, plus-ones, age, gender, and a VIP flag.

Invitations Management module icon

From __manifest__.py:

Key Value
name Invitations management
summary Centralize your invitations
version 1.0.0
license LGPL-3
depends base
application True

The manifest does not pin an Odoo series. Views use classic <tree> (renamed to <list> in Odoo 17+), so this module matches Odoo 14–16.

Why

Event guest lists usually live in spreadsheets. This module is a first-class Odoo model for the same data — searchable, permissioned, and ready to extend with mail or website later.

Features

Exact surface from models/, views/, and security/:

  • management.invitation fields:
    • name — guest name
    • plus_ones — extra attendees
    • age
    • gender — Male / Female
    • is_vip
  • List view shows name, VIP, and plus-ones; form shows all fields
  • Window action also exposes kanban, pivot, and activity view modes
  • Menus: Invitations Management → Guest Management → Guest
  • ACL: internal users (base.group_user) have full CRUD on invitations

There is no chatter, no mail dependency, and no website RSVP flow.

How it works

  Invitations Management
  └── Guest Management
        └── Guest → management.invitation
                      (name, plus_ones, age, gender, is_vip)

Each record is one invited person. Plus-ones are a number on that record, not separate contacts.

Quickstart

Odoo is not started in this workspace. Install on an Odoo 14–16 instance:

  1. Copy this folder into your addons path as invitations_management. Access rules reference invitations_management.model_management_invitation, so the directory name must be invitations_management, not the GitHub repo name.
  2. Add that path to addons_path and restart Odoo.
  3. Enable Developer Mode → Apps → Update Apps List.
  4. Search Invitations management and Install.
  5. Open the app and create a guest.

No settings page is shipped; all data is on the invitation form.

Limitations

  • Manifest description is still To do....
  • No RSVP status, email invite, seating, or plus-one child records.
  • Gender is a two-value selection only.
  • Access XML IDs assume the technical module name invitations_management.
  • Not tested on Odoo 17+ (<tree> vs <list>).
