The page is torn open on a risograph lake: the name scryst inked by hand across six mountain ranges and mirrored in the water, between pine headlands and reed beds. The ranges are the last year's weeks, oldest furthest away; each reed is a day; light on the water is today's work; birds are the days worked this fortnight. The sun sits where it is right now over Los Angeles; by night the moon shows its real phase. A boat is out within an hour of a push, the cabin smokes on a working day, and the year's best day ends in fireworks.
