What changes

  • Pin the bundled Codex CLI at 0.156.1 (from 0.155.1) and regenerate its app-server bindings from the exact stable binary.
  • Remove Wirebot's Personality setting and stop forwarding it on thread/turn requests. Codex 0.156 retired Friendly and Pragmatic style selection, so the old control no longer affected responses. Existing Codex config files are left intact.
  • Bump Wirebot from 0.3.3 to 0.3.4 and update the changelog. This patch release includes the existing unreleased Slack /new change on main, following the maintainer's explicit version decision.

Compatibility and feature review

Reviewed both intervening stable releases, 0.156.0 and 0.156.1, and the generated protocol diff. thread/rollback was removed; Wirebot has no handwritten caller. Image file-ID variants and the new model, plugin, MCP, account, and thread response metadata do not require changes to Wirebot's current request paths. The style setting is the required compatibility fix above. The new Sol/Luna models flow through the existing dynamic model list when available. The other headline changes concern Codex's local TUI/daemon, and per-thread plugin exclusions are not yet fully enforced. No optional integration is included or awaiting a feature decision.

Validation

  • bun install --frozen-lockfile: passed; lockfile unchanged.
  • bun run check: passed (TypeScript and Biome).
  • bun test: 32 passed, 0 failed, including a focused regression for an existing dormant personality config value.
  • bun run compile, ./dist/wirebot version (0.3.4), and help smoke: passed.
  • Isolated Codex 0.156.1 app-server with a fresh temporary CODEX_HOME: initialize, config read, model list, and ephemeral thread start passed. No live connector credentials or bot state were used.
  • Docker is unavailable locally; remote CI run 35841982356 passed both verify and Docker image smoke at head 69b7731e0f5d85d23aea16c2c8d48e127c17d1ec.

This PR requires explicit approval for its current head after CI passes. It does not authorize a live restart.

RetriggerConfidence Score: 5/5

The PR appears safe to merge after its required CI and approval gates pass.

Summary

This PR upgrades the bundled Codex CLI and generated protocol bindings to 0.156.1, removes Wirebot’s retired personality control and request forwarding, and prepares the 0.4.0 release.

  • Existing personality values in Codex configuration remain untouched but are no longer exposed through Wirebot settings.
  • Thread and turn requests no longer forward the deprecated personality setting.
  • Generated bindings incorporate the upstream protocol additions and removal of thread/rollback.
  • Version metadata and changelog entries are aligned for Wirebot 0.4.0.
