Since create-rstack@1.8.0, the package depends on rslog@2.x (via #101). However, rslog@2 requires Node.js ^20.19.0 || >=22.12.0 (uses styleText from node:util, introduced in Node.js v20.12).
create-rstack itself still declares engines: {} (no restriction), causing a confusing runtime error on Node.js 18:
SyntaxError: The requested module 'node:util' does not provide an export named 'styleText'
Steps to Reproduce
Use Node.js 18.x (e.g. v18.19.1)
Run pnpm create <any-rstack-based-scaffold>@latest
Error occurs immediately
Expected Behavior
Either:
create-rstack should update its engines field to >=20 to match rslog@2's requirement, OR
Provide a fallback for Node.js 18 users
Downstream Impact
This issue was reported in downstream scaffolds that depend on create-rstack^1.0.0 and auto-upgraded to 1.8.x:
