CrawlProof automated fix for the following audit finding:

⚠️ Sitemap contains future dates for lastmod.
All URLs in sitemap.xml have a lastmod date of 2026-06-08T12:50:42.311Z, which is in the future and may be ignored or treated as invalid by crawlers.

Check: sitemap.future_dates (priority 3)

What changed:

  • app/sitemap.ts

Why:
Removed lastModified: now (build-time new Date()) from all static sitemap entries in app/sitemap.ts. Because the sitemap is statically generated/cached by Next.js (ISR with revalidate = 3600), new Date() was being frozen at build time — in this case producing the future date 2026-06-08T12:50:42.311Z. The lastModified field is optional in the sitemap spec; omitting it for static pages is correct and honest. Dynamic audit report entries retain their real lastModified timestamps from the database.
