The Fenix card shows the release and nightly variants both with a darker border to indicate they are selected, but only one is:

Compare this to the Focus card below which only has the container highlighted for indicating the selected variant:

Oh, maybe I need to take this back. Does this mean that I already have the app installed? I will switch to the individual card per flavour of each app, for now.

Yes, the bold border indicates that this app flavor is already installed.
I'm not sure how to better communicate this information, and happy to hear any idea.
