POET-STRATOS — Camera control and space-to-ground data link

Flight software for an infrared astronomy payload flown to ~33 km on a Canadian Space Agency / CNES stratospheric balloon, August 2025. C++ control of a 12-bit SWIR camera over serial and camera link, a Python telecommand system, and a bandwidth-constrained downlink with compression and packet retransmission.

Diminished reality on iPhone 13 — in progress

Removing real objects from a live camera view, fully offline, on a non-Pro iPhone with 4 GB of RAM. Segmentation, monocular depth, inpainting and occlusion handling under a sustained thermal and memory budget, restricted to methods that are commercially clean.

Smart Home Greeter — Wi-Fi presence detection on two microcontrollers

Detects when a known phone rejoins the home network by reading its MAC address from DHCP broadcasts, then greets the person on an LCD and emails the owner. ESP8266 and Arduino Uno linked over serial, with devices stored in an EEPROM layout and names resolved from mDNS. Built in 2022.

HERO — Emergency response app

Community app for coordinating rides, first aid, and hazard reports during floods and forest fires, built by a team of five for Western's engineering design competition. 2nd overall, 1st in the Transportation category.
