Custom slugs

Hi! I recently moved from Microbin to Wastebin, and I'm loving it so far.
What I am sorely missing from Microbin are custom slugs. i.e., the option to specify what goes into the URL..
e.g. bin.orangc.net/list-of-fish-i-like instead of being forced to use the random ID such as bin.orangc.net/9dplEggTQPd.

It would be awesome to see this in Wastebin.

Edit: perhaps an option in the instance settings to default the ID to be the title name?

Hi, the title is not a good idea because of uniqueness. So it's more likely being a reverse mapping from name to ID. I'm looking into it!

So, a heads up: it's not difficult but the slug will be relatively long. Typical wordlists are 2048 words long, i.e. making up 11 bits. Unlike microbin which uses 32 bit identifiers, we use 64 bit. This means at least six words. Moreover, if you want "real" sentences like your example, we'd have to further restrict words making the URL even longer. Would you be okay with that?

I think you might be misunderstanding, I'm not trying to open the same issue as #152
I meant that the user can specify the ID

hmm, could you not put in a checking system to say, "hey, this name isn't available/is taken by another paste, please use another?"

I could put in such a system but for such a marginal fringe use case this is not worth the extra code, tests, user interface real estate, etc.

i think a lot of users would appreciate and use the feature, though. it has the same kind of appeal of https://rentry.co

especially for permanent pastes that people want public, like say i want a paste at bin.orangc.net/awesome-code-editors or /social-links-tree or something

you're just quickly typing it in a chat to somebody, you won't bother to go and fetch the ID but rather type out the URL from memory as a faster and convenient alternative

in any case, if you don't want to implement it, please feel free to close this issue as not planned and thank you for your time
