Why

On help.keboola.com/data-apps/reference/, the Sleep and resume section says the deploy wizard's auto-sleep timeout goes from five minutes to 24 hours, with five minutes as the default. Operate and update an app repeats the 24-hour cap. The shipped UI disagrees: five minutes is the minimum, the default is 15 minutes, and the timeout can be set in days. The reference sentence came over from the 2024 Jekyll page ("The default is set to five minutes."), which may have been true at the time.

What changed

One line on each page:

  • data-apps/reference.md:211: "(five minutes to 24 hours; default five minutes)" now reads "(five minutes to 30 days; default 15 minutes)".
  • data-apps/operate.md:36: "(five minutes to 24 hours, set in the deploy wizard)" now reads "(five minutes to 30 days, set in the deploy wizard)", so the two pages agree.

Evidence

The values come from the UI build that europe-west3 served on 30 September. A logged-in project page loaded kbc-ui/bundle.D8PUgM9Y.js, which imports app-D6Vj2Xc8.js (Last-Modified 30 Sep, 14:09 GMT), and its chunks are public on ui.keboola-assets.com:

  • CredentialsModal-CaesU65N.js, the deploy modal: the timeout starts at useState(900), the Deploy buttons are disabled below 300 s, and the hint reads "The minimum timeout is 5 minutes." The timeout control gets allowDays: true.
  • promise-DJWM6Zry.js: when the modal opens, it reads parameters.autoSuspendAfterSeconds, then the older expirationAfterHours times 3600, and otherwise uses 900 s.
  • TimeoutControl-D0CsWvYQ.js: presets from 15 minutes to 24 hours, then 2, 3, 7 and 14 days, then Custom with Days 0 to 30, Hours 0 to 23 and Minutes 0 to 59.

The 14 September build had the same logic. Other sources agree: the screenshot under the reference sentence (July, project 264) shows 15 minutes, kbagent 0.95.0 defaults --auto-suspend to 900, and build-locally.mdx already says apps sleep after 15 minutes without visitors.

Checks

Heads-up

  • "30 days" is the top of the Custom Days list. Custom also takes hours and minutes, so the UI accepts up to 30 days 23 hours 59 minutes. No public source shows a backend cap: the Sandboxes Service spec has no maximum, and its code isn't public. If the exact ceiling matters, the Apps team can confirm it.
  • A new app gets 15 minutes. On Redeploy the wizard shows the app's current timeout instead, as operate.md already says ("keep the current values").
  • On pay-as-you-go projects the wizard has no Backend Size field. That part of the reference sentence predates this PR and isn't changed here.
  • The operate bullet's "the next visit wakes it" misses one case: after an app fails to start several times, the UI tells you to start it manually, and visits no longer wake it. No page mentions this yet, so it's left for a follow-up.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

The reference said the deploy wizard's auto-sleep timeout runs from five
minutes to 24 hours with a five-minute default, and operate.md repeated
the 24-hour cap. The UI served on europe-west3 on 2026-09-30 (kbc-ui
app-D6Vj2Xc8.js) starts the timeout at 900 s, falls back to 900 s when a
config has none, rejects values under 300 s, and offers presets up to 14
days plus a Custom field with 0-30 days.
