The coordinate display follows the mouse cursor. Touch devices have no
persistent cursor, so even when the control is visible, there is no clear
equivalent for choosing the map position whose coordinates should be shown.
The basic solution would be to give touch users a clear way to select and read
a position through the existing coordinate control.
Alternatively, this could become a broader location-selection feature with
placeable pins and links that preserve or share a selected location. That
would be a larger redesign, so we should decide whether it is worthwhile
