nextkit

Configuration, libraries, and conventions for Next.js sites, as independently versioned packages. Built and maintained by Ingram Technologies.

Prime directive: a nextkit site is indistinguishable from a normal Next.js site, beyond its dependencies. nextkit does not wrap or replace Next.js.

Why

nextkit was extracted from several Next.js sites that kept re-implementing the same concerns: email, newsletters, bot protection, linting, testing, code style. Each concern is now one package with its own version, so a site adopts only what it needs and upgrades each piece on its own schedule.

What the packages bind to

Only nk-seo, nk-blog, nk-themes, nk-i18n and nk-auth peer-depend on Next.js; nk-forms needs React for its client hook, and nothing else. nk-email, nk-db, nk-api, nk-billing and nk-marketing declare no framework peer at all and work outside Next.js. Each package commits to at most one external service, so adopting one does not commit you to the others:

• nk-email sends through Cloudflare Email Sending.
• nk-billing is Stripe.
• nk-db is any Postgres reachable by DATABASE_URL over pg (with Drizzle wiring and PGlite for local dev/test), not a hosted REST layer.
• nk-auth is Better Auth.
• nk-forms' third bot-protection layer is Vercel BotID, and degrades to a no-op off Vercel; the honeypot and timing layers run anywhere.
• nk-dev ships oxlint, oxfmt, TypeScript and Vitest config.
