Correlation of dose and response for nanomaterials toxicity assessment requires information on the amount of the applied dose of nanomaterial that has been internalised by a cell population (or per specific cell) and is dependent on a number of factors including the exposure time, the particle density (i.e., whether settling occurs and thus the distribution of particles in the medium is non-homogeneous affecting the local concentration at the cell surface) etc.

And i feel that the concept 'internalised' should apply to the nanomaterial particles rather than the property. The toxicity of the nanoparticles comes from the fact that they are internalised in the matrix ie the cellular membrane

Regarding the property I see this: http://qudt.org/vocab/quantitykind/MassPerArea: the area density (also known as areal density, surface density, or superficial density) of a two-dimensional object is calculated as the mass per unit area. So it is important the concept is understood and a property concept that reflects this is chosen.
