Fixes #962

Summary

 observe(items, scope, failedProviders)
   for item in items
-    key = [inboxNotificationProject(item).id, item.kind, item.id || item.number]
- # github/gitlab/ado id = local:<clonePath> → new clone path = "new" item
- # → every open PR re-appears → event automation reviews all old PRs
+ key = observationKey(item)
+ # remote identity: host + owner/repo from item URL
+ # (ado: org/project/_git/repo; jira/linear: team/project + issue id)
+ # unparseable URL → repo string fallback
     if primed && !revisions.has(key) → appeared

Same upstream PR now has one identity regardless of which local clone or rail scope observed it, so it only fires pull_request_opened when it is genuinely new upstream.

Evidence

  • Before: keying by local:<projectPath>; adding/moving the project re-emitted every open PR as appeared → claimInboxAutomations launched a review run per old PR (claims table can't dedupe — keys never claimed before).
  • After: npx vitest run src/features/inbox src/features/automations → 41/41 pass, incl. new cases:
    • scope change (project moved) → no replay; genuinely new PR → still appears
    • URL shapes: GitHub /pull/N, GitLab /-/merge_requests/N, Azure DevOps _git, Jira/Linear team ids, unparseable-URL fallback

Merge Danger

Door: two-way — pure frontend keying change, no persisted state, trivially revertible.

Blast Radius: inbox notification revision tracking + event automation triggers. Claim dedupe (automation_event_claims, keyed by event key) is untouched, so already-reviewed PRs stay deduped.

Known unchanged limitation: poll-based detection means PRs opened while the app is closed are baselined on next launch and never fire (worth documenting per #653).

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Inbox items are now recognized consistently across local project scopes, helping prevent duplicate notifications when previously seen items reappear.
    • Recognition distinguishes repositories and sites across GitLab, Jira, Linear, Azure DevOps, and other providers, including when URLs use different formats.
    • Newly appearing pull requests and items from distinct repositories or sites continue to be recognized as new.

Event automations (e.g. pull_request_opened) replayed every open PR
whenever the local project scope changed, because revision keys were
derived from the local clone path. Key revisions by the remote
repository identity (host + owner/repo from the item URL) instead, so
an item only appears when it is genuinely new upstream.

📝 Walkthrough

The inbox notification tracker now identifies items by provider-specific remote identity instead of local notification project scope. Tests cover repeated observations across scopes, distinct repository and Jira site identities, and detection of a new PR.

Changes: Inbox notification identity

Layer / File(s) Summary
Build provider-specific observation keys
src/features/inbox/model/inboxNotifications.ts
The tracker builds keys from provider-specific identifiers and remote repository identity. Azure DevOps paths use segments through _git/repo. If URL parsing fails or no path segments exist, repository identity uses the normalized repository name.
Use and verify stable observation keys
src/features/inbox/model/inboxNotifications.ts, src/features/inbox/model/inboxNotifications.test.ts
observe uses the new keys to look up item revisions. Tests cover repeated observations across scopes, distinct repositories and Jira sites, unparseable URLs, and a new PR in the same repository.

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 04d76

Inbox notification identity now uses remote identity, so changing the local project scope should not re-emit existing open PRs as new. No actionable merge-blocking risk remains in the supplied changes.

- Line 57: Update the GitLab URL path handling around the `gitIndex` slice so it
retains every repository path segment before `/-/`, including nested subgroup
and repository segments. This preserves distinct remote identities for
repositories in the same subgroup.
- Line 31: Update the Jira observation-key construction shown in the return
expression to include the host parsed from item.url, distinguishing otherwise
identical items across Jira sites. Handle unparseable URLs with a fallback so
key generation still succeeds.

Address review on hardbeat920#963:
- keep every path segment before /-/ so repos nested in the same
  GitLab subgroup do not collide
- include the Jira site host in observation keys so identical issue
  keys across instances stay distinct

Addressed both review findings in 04d76a4:

  • GitLab nested subgroups: identity now keeps every path segment before "/-/", so group/sub/api and group/sub/web no longer collide.
  • Jira: observation key now includes the site host parsed from item.url (fallback "unknown" on unparseable URLs), so identical issue keys across Jira instances stay distinct.

Added regression tests for both; 43/43 inbox+automations tests pass, tsc clean.
