Load extensions while probing omp's model catalog - #846
Conversation
The catalog probe passed `--no-extensions` for omp but not Pi, so any provider an extension registers (`pi.registerProvider`) was invisible to the model picker. When that provider also supplies the default model, omp exits before answering `get_available_models` and the probe returns nothing at all, leaving the built-in `omp:default` entry as the only model. Pi already loads extensions during its probe (hardbeat920#645); this makes omp match it on the shared code path.

Prepare the omp extension-loading change for the asynchronous Pi discovery implementation on main. Preserve the current polling and teardown tests, then reapply the small omp-specific change after merging main.
Load extensions during omp catalog probes while preserving the asynchronous Pi startup polling, deadline, and teardown logic from main. Update the omp test to expect extensions and retain its immediate discovery and cleanup assertions.

The default
mocks.writeChildresponse contains onlybuiltin, and the OMP test asserts onlyomp:meta/shared-id. The test therefore checks the spawn arguments but not that an extension provider contributes a model. A failure to load or register that provider can still pass.Suggested fix

What changed
The model-catalog probe no longer passes
--no-extensionsfor omp. It now loads the user's extensions for both Pi and omp, matching the Pi behavior from #645.Why
An extension can register a provider (
pi.registerProvider), and that provider's models are part of the catalog. Probing with--no-extensionshid every one of them — and when the extension also supplies the default model, omp exits before answeringget_available_models, so the probe returned nothing at all and the picker stayed on the built-inomp:defaultentry.Reproduced on omp 18.8.4 (Windows) with a provider registered by an extension:
omp --mode rpc --no-session --no-extensions→ no stdout, exit code 1, stderrNo default model selected. …omp --mode rpc --no-session→{"type":"response","command":"get_available_models","success":true,"data":{"models":[ … 123 models … ]}}Pi and omp share this code path, and Pi already loads extensions during its probe, so this only removes the flavor asymmetry. The probe child is still killed in
finally(stop()), so nothing is left resident.Fixes #845.

npx tsc --noEmitclean; the touched area's tests pass (src/integrations/harness/**— 71 passed)npm run checkfully green locally —vitest runreports 45 failing files (329 tests) on my Windows box, but the identical set fails on a clean checkout ofmain(verified by stashing the change), so they are pre-existing and unrelated to this diff.The test that asserted the old behavior (
preserves extension isolation for omp catalog probes) is updated to assert the new one.Summary by CodeRabbit
