A Browser toggle in the status bar opens a per-project browser dock, docked right by default. It reuses the terminal dock model and a shared DockPanel frame, so tabs, reordering, moving sides, resizing and hiding behave the same. Each tab is a native child webview laid over a DOM placeholder. Child webviews make a window multi-webview, which Tauri no longer treats as a WebviewWindow, so workspace-window commands and lookups now use Window and Webview instead. Pages get no IPC, cannot load file: or app URLs, and hide while menus or dialogs overlap them. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
It now matches the Browser button: pressed and accented only while the terminal dock is on screen, and a click shows or hides it (same as Cmd+J), creating a terminal the first time. Before, it stayed accented whenever the project had a terminal and could only show the dock. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Links clicked in chat open in a new built-in browser tab by default. A new "Open links in" setting picks the built-in or default browser, and holding Cmd (Ctrl elsewhere) while clicking uses the other one. Terminal links get the same routing without the terminal knowing about the browser: vite.config.ts resolves app imports of @tauri-apps/plugin-opener to a shim that sends openUrl calls made from a click inside a terminal through the link router, and passes every other call straight through. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Browser tabs and the panel's open state now belong to a session instead of a project. The panel follows the focused session (or the Mono in full view); links open in that session's browser; deleting a session closes its tabs. All tabs share one persistent sign-in profile. Only the docked tab draws on screen: the focused session's other tabs and any tab an agent is using run in an off-window host, and everything else is suspended to its URL. Agents get browser tools through `monocode browser-mcp`, a stdio MCP server built into the app. It forwards tool calls over the authenticated control channel in a new `browser` namespace, which reuses the session's app credential but only answers during that session's live turn in its own window. The window executes them against that session's tabs only: list, open, navigate, history, select, close, read text or HTML, run scripts (async, JSON results), console capture, click, type, wait, and screenshots (macOS). Agent tabs open in the background; the Browser button pulses while an agent works with the panel hidden. Claude gets the server via --mcp-config, Codex via -c mcp_servers overrides that forward the credential variables by name, and the ACP providers (Cursor, Grok, Antigravity, fx, Hermes) via session mcpServers. Credentials never appear in arguments. A new Agent browser setting turns it off. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Switching sessions suspended the previous session's tabs, so coming back reloaded them and lost in-page state (SPA routes, forms, sign-in flows). Out-of-view pages now stay live, most recently viewed first, up to 12 pages; past that the least recently viewed tabs of other sessions unload and reload from their URL when shown. The focused session's tabs and agent tabs always stay live. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Send browser context on every Codex turn (including resumed chats), refresh the connection when browser access changes, and require the browser MCP server. Fix duplicate React keys that stacked navigation bars in the browser dock. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Retain restoredBy after a rejected navigation restores the original URL so accepting the earlier requests in either order ends on the latest display URL. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Only publish a result while the run still owns its key, and delete the entry when the caller stops waiting. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ner shim Removes the build-time alias of the opener plugin; openLink now calls the plugin directly and the terminal routes link activation through it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…honest load waits - browser_open is async, with lookup and child creation under one lock - quick-composer prepare/take/ack take Window, and liveness uses get_window - explicit navigate/open/reload await a real load or report timedOut - poll native URL so pushState/replaceState/hash changes are tracked - summarize the page after its load finishes, not before Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… dispatch - Fragment targets are offered to the page, which reports where its URL ended up. A synchronous change means the page stayed in its document (applied, with the resulting URL). An unchanged URL is unknown: the page refused or started a load that has not committed yet. Probes carry a start deadline so a late one does not touch the page. - An unanswered probe is unknown only when the target differs from the webview's URL by fragment alone; otherwise it is a document navigation. - Navigations dispatch one at a time per tab and take their load baseline at dispatch. A navigation waits up to 2s for the previous one's load to start; if it never does, the result is flagged as overlapped and the agent warns. - Settling entries expire (30s document, 3s unknown) as recovery for loads that never report a start. - Run the generated probe in Node across handler behaviors, and cover the dispatch queue with tests that use the real platform module. tauri-plugin-opener injects a click handler into every webview, including built-in browser pages. On a plain click of a target=_blank link it cancels the click and invokes plugin:opener|open_url, which remote pages may not call, so nothing happened; Cmd-click bypassed it and opened a tab. The app's own links open explicitly, so disable the injected script. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

The PR delivers the per-session browser dock and agent control requested by issue
#789, but it does not deliver separate session cookies or an isolated-session option, which the linked issue also requests.
Full details: Linked Issues check
-
Explanation
Issue [
#789] requires an in-app browser per session that agents can control while hidden or collapsed, with user access to watch or take over. The PR summary reports this behavior and adds browser controls for the supported providers. Issue [#789] also requires persistent browser profiles and an option to start a fresh, isolated session. The PR uses one persistent profile shared across sessions and explicitly excludes separate session cookies or sign-in isolation. The fresh isolated-session option is not implemented.

76-76: 🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winDo not run overlay-occlusion tracking for off-window background surfaces.
SessionBrowserDock.tsxrenders every live background tab withvisibleset to true, so that the page keeps rendering.useOverlayOcclusion(host, visible)therefore starts oneMutationObserverper background surface. Each observer watches all ofdocument.body, includingclassandstyleattributes. Up toMAX_LIVE_TABSsurfaces can exist, and agent tabs can add more.On each frame with DOM mutations, each observer runs
querySelectorAlland callsgetBoundingClientRect. Streaming chat output causes DOM mutations on most frames. A background host is atleft: -(1280 + 10_000), so it can never overlap an overlay. All of this work is wasted.Add a separate flag for off-window hosts, and turn occlusion tracking off for them.

An OSC 8 hyperlink can show one address and open another. App inferred deletion from a session leaving the sessions list, but idle detachment also removes saved sessions from it, so reopening one lost its browser tabs. app_origins always treated build.devUrl as an app origin, so builds that serve the app from tauri:// refused the user's own dev server on that port. On macOS and Linux, wry sends subframe navigations to this hook with no frame to tell them apart, so srcdoc iframes, about:blank with a query or fragment, and blob: frames were cancelled. Admit about:blank and about:srcdoc, and blob: URLs of a web origin other than the app's. data: stays blocked, since the hook would also allow it top-level. Search, settings, the inbox, notes and automations hide the workspace with display: none. The off-window host for background tabs was inside it, so those pages measured 1x1, and an agent working meanwhile got a one-pixel viewport. Portal the host to document.body; it is position: fixed either way. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
With required=true, Codex fails thread startup or resume if the browser server cannot initialize, blocking chats that never use the browser. Tested without it: a new Codex chat uses the browser tools on its first turn, a resumed chat finds them, and chats start normally with Agent browser off. What changed
Adds a built-in browser dock: native child webviews in a tabbed panel that works like the terminal dock. Each session owns its tabs, and chat and terminal links open in them (an "Open links in" setting picks the default, and Cmd/Ctrl-click uses the other browser). Agents can drive the browser through a built-in
monocode browser-mcpserver that works with Claude, Codex and the ACP providers. Its tools cover tabs, open, navigate, history, close, read text/HTML, run scripts, console, click, type, wait and screenshots, and an "Agent browser" setting turns it off.Supporting work:
Not included (possible follow-ups):
Why
Agents and users had to leave MonoCode to check a running app or a web page, and agents couldn't see or interact with pages at all. Keeping the browser per session, with agents limited to that session's tabs during their own turn, gives them that ability without reaching other sessions or the app itself. Pages get no IPC and can't load file: or app URLs.
