@rieutord rieutord released this 18 Oct 12:52

This release include small modifications that allow ester to comply with Ubuntu 24.04. Apparently swig has been modified and the wrapper used to generate python code does not work like previous versions. the file python/ester.in has been slightly modified. It has been checked that this new version is still compatible with Ubuntu 22.04 and Ubuntu 20.04.

The file src/physics/composition.cpp has also been modified to check that $HOME/ester is the root dir of ESTER, otherwise changes need to be made.

@rieutord rieutord released this 30 Sep 16:08

This release of the master branch is the first one and is consistent with the description given in papers

  • Espinosa Lara F. and Rieutord M. (2013), ``Self-consistent 2D-models of fast rotating early-type stars", in Astron. Astrophys., vol. 552, A35
  • Rieutord M., Espinosa Lara F. and Putigny B. (2016), ``An algorithm for computing the 2D structure of fast rotating stars", in J. Computational Phys.., vol. 318, 277-304

This version computes the steady state of a two-dimensional model at any rotation rate on the main sequence for masses typically above 1.8 solar mass. The chemical composition is that of GN93 scaled by Z. Details are given in the manual ester.pdf.

Furthermore, the increase in N14 in the core due to hydrogen burning via the CNO cycle is taken into account by assuming the creation of N14 from C12 is dominated by the reaction of O16 to F17. The reaction rate of this reaction is taken from Angulo et al. (1999, Nuclear Physics A, Volume 656, Issue 1).
