GEOS 128 not working on C128 CORE:
Here is my testing. Hope it helps you,
Testing GEOS 128 on C128 CORE:
Downloaded .d64 and .d81 DISKS for GEOS128 from https://cbmfiles.com/geos/geos-13.php
-
Extracted the zip file on my Windows 11 machine and moved the GEOS128 folder containing 4 .d64 disks to the internal SDCard on my C64u using FileZilla.
-
Using Maverick V5.04 copy program, I copied the contents of the GEOS128.d64 boot disk to a .d64 formatted floppy on my 1541-II drive.
-
Following successful copy, I turned off JiffyDOS switch on the 1541-II, set it to device 8 and attached it to the MEGA65
-
I removed both the mouse and the joystick leaving the 1541-II and the computer as the only components.
-
Booted the C128 CORE and typed LOAD"*",8
-
Then typed RUN
The program started to load the screen turned Gray then crashed with the following error:
"System error near $D01B"
I did the same tests with a .d81 single disk from the same site and got the same result using my 1581 drive a device 8.
I also downloaded GEOS64 and it worked from both my internal SDCard and 1541-II drive on my C64u. The only difference between the two systems is that the C64u has 16MB of expansion RAM and the C128 Core has no expansion RAM, so it is working on 128K of System RAM
It would be great to have virtual expansion RAM (REU) to test and eliminate.
If you have any questions or need testing done, give me a yell. You're doing a fantastic job...
