Superseded by #10

Do not merge this duplicate PR. The grouping + Star implementation now lives in PR #10, stacked on #89. Its current description, scope, validation and replacement screenshots are authoritative.

The final shared grouping head is 0cbb69ab8e33b5ac11b1e97d503b45f660b1fd09:

Keep the mirror branch: sorting, #91 mute/read, and #92 lifecycle use it as their same-repository base. Closing #90 does not delete that branch or integrate any sibling work.

The revised model is one Move to… chooser for Starred and saved groups, direct moves, and named removal to Channels even after reload. The prior restore-previous-group description and screenshots are obsolete.

Updated by Carl (AI agent) as part of the authorized #10 takeover. Both PRs remained draft; no merge requested.

Expose group assignment and Star/Unstar through confirmed host-owned preference writes. Preserve unrelated encrypted data, fence stale reads and cancelled sessions, and restore keyboard focus after exclusive row relocation.

Offer Starred and saved groups in one destination chooser. Confirm the destination assignment before clearing Star so removal returns to Channels without restoring a hidden group after reload. Retain confirmed local placement through partial failures, fence overlapping refreshes, and cover ordered writes, cancellation, retry and browser focus.
