Alberto Cárdenas · Beto Alien 👋

Senior Data Engineer building data platforms at scale — and the engines underneath them.

I work at the intersection of data engineering, systems programming, and AI-assisted analytics. During the day I build production pipelines for Fortune 500 clients. The rest of the time I build the tools I wish existed.

What I've built

PardoX — Rust-based DataFrame engine

A high-performance data engine with a Rust core and SDKs for Python, Node.js, and PHP.
Think: single-node Spark alternative, ~4.6 GB/s read throughput, 640M+ rows, zero cluster overhead.
pip install pardox · pardox.io

🐘 Lyger PHP Framework — PHP framework with a Rust FFI backend

Always-alive workers. Zero-copy database queries. 313× faster CRUD than Laravel in benchmarks.
PHP doesn't have to be slow. Lyger proves it.
composer create-project betoalien/lyger

World Cup 2026 Predictor — Monte Carlo tournament simulator

10,000 full-tournament simulations across 104 matches and 48 teams.
Spain placed 3rd in championship probability — and won. Built entirely on PardoX, not pandas.

What I work with

Day job: Apache Spark (PySpark & Scala) · Apache Iceberg · Kafka · Airflow · dbt · Snowflake · PostgreSQL · AWS · FastAPI · Docker · Python · SQL

Building: Rust · PHP · JavaScript · TypeScript · Linux (Ubuntu & Slackware)

Currently exploring: AI Agents · LangChain · RAG workflows · natural-language interfaces for data

What I'm open to

I'm a passive candidate — stable, selective, and not in a rush. That said, I'm genuinely interested in:

  • Technical collaborations on funded, concrete projects — not open-ended "let's explore" conversations
  • CTO or technical co-founder roles where the product has clear scope and a data/AI core
  • Senior Data Engineering or BI Engineering roles — remote, long-term, with U.S. or Mexico teams

If you have something specific in mind, lead with the problem. I'll tell you fast whether I can help.
