I just ran into this. beman-submodule update reverted some changes, deleting some new files, in my fork of infra in optional. Reverting those deletes was straightforward, no real harm done.
It would be nice, though, to have merge or rebase options when pulling in changes into a working infra instance.
Push to my fork of infra, also, from the working copy would also be a nice extension.
