Speech recognition and text cleanup run on your Mac. No account or subscription required.
- Download the DMG, open it, and drag Omil to Applications.
- Open Omil and follow the setup steps to download the speech models and grant permissions.
- Place your cursor in a text field, hold Right Option, and start speaking.
Requires an Apple silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later. Currently supports English only. Initial setup requires Homebrew and an internet connection.
- Clean or Verbatim. Remove filler words and fix grammar, or keep your original wording.
- Dictionary and snippets. Add names and terms, or turn a short phrase into reusable text.
- Dictation history. Search recent dictations, compare edits, and replay recordings.
- Flexible controls. Use a keyboard shortcut, the menu bar, or a floating record button.
You can start a new recording while the previous one is being processed.
iPhone and iPad support is experimental and has not been tested on a physical device. It is not included in the Mac download.
