Motivation

LightProto 0.8.2 fixes 64-bit varint parsing from Netty leak-aware composite buffers. Earlier versions can read from the wrong offset or fail with a truncated-message exception when those buffers are used, including with paranoid leak detection in Pulsar tests.

Release notes: https://github.com/streamnative/lightproto/releases/tag/v0.8.2

The fix in 0.8.2 is required for #26605.

Modifications

Upgrade the shared LightProto Gradle plugin version from 0.8.1 to 0.8.2 so all five modules regenerate their protobuf codecs with the fix.

Verifying this change

This change is covered by existing protocol serialization tests:

  • CommandsAckSerializationTest and CommandsTcAssignmentsTest: 17 tests passed with retries disabled.
  • ./gradlew help quickCheck assemble checkBinaryLicense --configuration-cache

Does this pull request potentially affect one of the following parts:

  • Dependencies (add or upgrade a dependency)
  • The public API
  • The schema
  • The default values of configurations
  • The threading model
  • The binary protocol
  • The REST endpoints
  • The admin CLI options
  • The metrics
  • Anything that affects deployment

Attach the test JARs published by the branch-4.2 Maven build for five library modules in ordinary and API/SPI publishing modes.
