Implemented Vercel Web Analytics for the docs-search example project. ## What was implemented: 1. **Fetched latest documentation**: Retrieved the most up-to-date installation instructions from https://vercel.com/docs/analytics/quickstart to ensure correct implementation. 2. **Identified project framework**: Determined this is a vanilla HTML/JavaScript project (not using React, Next.js, or other frameworks) that uses ES modules and runs directly in the browser without a bundler. 3. **Created package.json**: Added a new package.json file to the examples/docs-search directory to manage the @vercel/analytics dependency. 4. **Installed @vercel/analytics package**: Used npm to install version 1.6.1 of @vercel/analytics. 5. **Integrated Analytics**: Added the `inject()` function from @vercel/analytics to main.js following the vanilla JavaScript pattern from the official documentation. The integration was added at the top of the file, right after imports, ensuring analytics are initialized before any other application code runs. ## Files created: - examples/docs-search/package.json - Package manifest with @vercel/analytics dependency - examples/docs-search/package-lock.json - NPM lock file for consistent dependency resolution ## Files modified: - examples/docs-search/main.js - Added Analytics import and inject() call ## Implementation details: The integration follows the official Vercel documentation pattern for vanilla JavaScript projects: - Imported the `inject` function from '@vercel/analytics' - Called `inject()` at the top level to initialize analytics tracking - Preserved all existing code structure and functionality The implementation is minimal and non-invasive, adding only 3 lines of code: 1. Import statement 2. Comment 3. inject() function call ## Technical notes: - The project uses ES modules (type: "module" in package.json) - Analytics will automatically track page views when deployed to Vercel - The inject() function is called before any WASM initialization or DOM manipulation - Node modules are already in .gitignore, so they won't be committed - Package lock file is included as per best practices for dependency consistency ## Next steps for deployment: 1. Enable Web Analytics in the Vercel project dashboard 2. Deploy the project to Vercel 3. Verify analytics data collection in the Vercel dashboard after user visits 4. Check browser Network tab for requests to verify analytics beacon is being sent The implementation is production-ready and follows Vercel's official guidelines for vanilla JavaScript applications.
