This repository documents my virtual internship at Skyline Aerospace, Coimbatore, under their Drone and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (DUAV) Program. The internship provided hands-on experience across the complete lifecycle of UAV development — from understanding flight fundamentals to designing, simulating, and analyzing real drone assemblies.
🌐 Skyline Aerospace – DUAV Program
- Study of various UAV classifications — Fixed Wing, Rotary Wing, VTOL, Hybrid
- Understanding key specifications: payload, endurance, range, propulsion systems
- Comparison of Micro, Mini, and Industrial UAVs
- Calculation of aerodynamic forces: Lift, Drag, Thrust, and Weight
- Moment analysis and stability assessment
- Application of fundamental flight dynamics equations
- 2D sketching exercises and constraints
- 3D part modelling of drone components
- Feature-based modelling: extrude, revolve, loft, sweep
- Study of NACA aerofoil series and selection criteria
- Lift and drag coefficient analysis
- Aerofoil geometry generation and import into SolidWorks
- CFD simulation of selected NACA aerofoil
- Boundary condition setup: velocity inlet, pressure outlet
- Visualization of pressure distribution, velocity contours, and lift/drag results
- Full assembly of drone components in SolidWorks
- Mate constraints and assembly hierarchy
- Exploded view and bill of materials generation
- Static structural analysis of drone frame
- Mesh generation and boundary condition setup
- Results: Von Mises stress, deformation, and factor of safety
