Git View now has unsigned macOS Apple silicon DMG and Windows x64 NSIS installers, each with bundled Node and a SHA256 file. The macOS package uses the existing fixed-path installation, ZIP backups and cleanup workflow. Windows remains read-only; its background Node and Git queries no longer open console windows.
Build commit 727be42 passed both platform package jobs and both platform source checks. Package run: https://github.com/XSY-28/git-view/actions/runs/37610447140.
Windows performed a real install into a Chinese/space-containing directory, packaged CLI and stdio checks, real release WebView2/Tauri repository opening, staged and working-tree diffs, history, unchanged repository fingerprint, no background Node console, normal host/sidecar exit, and uninstall. The local macOS DMG was actually installed at ~/Applications/Git View.app and checked through its native window; original build copies were removed by the existing installer. Local validation passed 232 tests, 4 Rust lifecycle tests and 27 installer tests.
The final documentation-only commit records the verification results and actual Windows screenshots without changing the packaged code. Installer artifacts and reports are attached to the successful package workflow. README and docs/INSTALL.md describe the artifact download path; docs/verification/2026-10-07-desktop-installers.md records the evidence and limits.
Limits: unsigned preview packages and no Apple notarization. Physical Windows 10/11, first-download security prompts, native Windows folder dialog and fresh Spotlight search-panel behavior remain unverified. No Intel Mac, Windows ARM, Linux packages or automatic updater.
Release preparation: installer documentation now points to GitHub Releases. Fresh local checks on the final PR tree passed (232 application tests, 27 installation tests, 4 Rust host tests, typecheck and build). The v0.2.0 installers will be rebuilt from the merged commit before publication.
