Add barcode search for filaments

Hi,

Would it be possible to add support for searching filaments directly by their barcode (UPC/EAN)?

At the moment, entering a barcode in the search field does not seem to return any result, even though barcode information is already available in the database for many filament entries.

For example, if a filament already has a barcode associated with it in the database, it would be useful to be able to paste or scan that barcode into the search field and immediately retrieve the corresponding filament.

This would make filament identification and inventory management much faster, especially when using a USB barcode scanner.

Expected behavior

Entering or scanning a barcode should return the corresponding filament when that barcode exists in the database.

Current behavior

Searching using the barcode does not seem to return the filament, even when the barcode is present in its database entry.

Thanks — this is now in place everywhere except the Catalogue, and the reason is worth explaining.

What works since v2.27.0

• Inventory (grid and table) and Favorites: paste or scan a barcode into the search field and the matching filament comes up.
• A scanned code is matched exactly first. A USB scanner fires the full number, and it now lands on the one spool it belongs to — not on every product whose barcode happens to start with the same digits (some brands share a long prefix across a whole range). If nothing matches exactly, the normal search still runs.
• The search placeholder now says it accepts a reference or a barcode.

Why the Catalogue does not find them yet

The official catalogue data that Tiger Studio downloads does not include barcodes at the moment. Tiger Studio is already able to search them — the moment they appear in that data, catalogue search will pick them up with no app update needed.

So this is a server-side update to the catalogue, not a Tiger Studio change, and it is planned for the near future. I am leaving this issue open until barcodes are in the catalogue.
