Since the project is brand agnostic it should cover as many use cases as possible. Some manufacturers like QIDI are using different chips then TigerTag supports now.
For the manufacturer to change such hardware decision it is difficult. It would break their ecosystem, spools with new spools (new chips) would not work with old hardware and new hardware might not work with old spools.
There I believe it is TigerTag who should add support for other RFID chips to cover all possible scenarios.
