770-770: 🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAvoid allocating channel-key arrays for offscreen points.
If an offscreen point needs an ownership check,
Object.keys(mark.channels)allocates an array for each axis. UseObject.prototype.propertyIsEnumerable.call(mark.channels, axis)to retain the own-enumerable rule without those allocations. This matters most when the filter processes many offscreen points. Based on learnings, avoid unnecessary intermediate arrays in performance-sensitive JavaScript code.Proposed change
- const channel = Object.keys(mark.channels).includes(axis) + const channel = Object.prototype.propertyIsEnumerable.call( + mark.channels, + axis, + ) ? mark.channels[axis] : undefined🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

I tested The additional ownership matrix also passes in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit: 432 combinations of channel visibility, ownership and active axes, each with nine boundary/offscreen/invalid-coordinate points. The results match the previous implementation. The docstring warning is advisory, not a repository gate. No public API changed, and the existing viewport helper documentation still applies. |
Related to #203, thanks @toomingos for the report.
Skip mark ownership lookup for points already inside the viewport. For offscreen points, check the relevant axis channel without reading every unrelated channel value. Keep the existing own-enumerable channel rules and fixed-mark behavior.
This addresses the viewport-filter part of the report, not screen-CTM reads or early pointer input. #203 should stay open.
