Sticky Notes Web App (Beta)

This is a Sticky Notes Web Application built with React, Node.js, Express.js, and MySQL. The app allows users to create, edit, and delete their personal notes, with each user having their own private notes. The application is designed to be simple, efficient, and easy to use.

Features:

  • 🛠️ User Authentication: Sign up, login, and session management to ensure each user has their own notes.
  • ✏️ CRUD Operations: Users can create, edit, and delete their notes.
  • 📱 Responsive Design: Built with a clean, modern UI using SCSS for styling.
  • 🌐 Progressive Web App (PWA): The app supports offline mode and can be installed on devices as a PWA.
  • 📧 Email Notifications: Users can reset their password via email, and the app will notify them when the email is sent.

Technologies Used:

Frontend:

  • ⚛️ React: For building the user interface and handling state management.
  • 🔗 React Router: For navigation between pages without refreshing the browser.
  • 🎨 SCSS: For advanced styling and responsive design.
  • 🧋 Toastify: For displaying toast notifications (e.g., success, error, etc.).

Backend:

  • 🌍 Node.js: Server-side runtime environment.
  • 🖥️ Express.js: Web framework for building the RESTful API.
  • 🗄️ MySQL: Relational database for storing user and notes data.
  • 🔑 JWT: JSON Web Token for secure authentication and authorization.
  • ✉️ Nodemailer: For sending email notifications (e.g., password reset links).
  • 📲 PWA: The app is built as a Progressive Web App, enabling offline functionality and installation on devices.

Installation:

Frontend:

  1. Clone the repository.
  2. Navigate to the frontend directory.
  3. Install dependencies:
    npm install
  4. Start the development server:
    npm run dev

Backend:

  1. Clone the repository.
  2. Navigate to the backend directory.
  3. Install dependencies:
    npm install
  4. Set up the .env file with necessary environment variables (e.g., database connection, session secret, etc.).
  5. Start the backend server:
    npm start
