Translate your Mailchimp campaigns with Supertext AI. Each language gets its own draft next to the original, with the subject line, preview text and content translated and the audience set to the subscribers who speak that language. Start a translation right in Mailchimp, by moving a campaign into a Supertext folder, or pick the campaign and languages on the app's own page.
Status: in development. The app works against a stand-in of the Mailchimp API (tests, screenshots). Testing on a real Mailchimp account is the next step; see Known limitations.
- Hosted app (Node.js on Railway), connected to Mailchimp with OAuth. Nothing to install in Mailchimp.
- Two ways to start: move a campaign into Supertext → German (or Supertext → All languages) in Mailchimp, or use the app's Translate page. Either can be turned off.
- Drafts per language, in the original's folder, each with a language segment; the original can go only to the subscribers without a translation.
- Keeps layout, images, links and Mailchimp merge tags (
*|FNAME|*,*|UNSUB|*); template campaigns stay editable in Mailchimp's editor. - Existing drafts are kept unless you choose to update them.
- Export for translation (XLIFF 1.2 or HTML) for translators, translation tools or Supertext's web app, and import of the translated file as the language's draft.
- The app's pages are in English, German, French and Italian.
Needs: a Mailchimp account and a Supertext account with an API key. No Supertext account yet? Create one at supertext.com. Generate your API key at supertext.com → Integrations → API (requires the Admin role).
Besides translating with Supertext AI, you can export a campaign as a file, have it translated elsewhere and import the result.
- Where: the export and import sections on the app's Translate page; the import becomes the language's draft.
- Formats: XLIFF 1.2 for translation tools such as Trados, memoQ or Phrase (formatting travels as protected tags; several target languages in one file), or HTML (one language per file) for translators or Supertext's web app, which keeps the file's head and
data-st-idattributes, so the translated file imports as it is. - Import: the file says what it was exported from and for which language. The translations are written with the same rules as a Supertext AI translation, and a summary shows what was imported and what was skipped: source changed since the export (import those anyway with Also import texts whose source changed since the export), not translated, formatting changed, not in the file.
- Safe: files over 10 MB, files from another system and translations that add markup the source doesn't have are refused; uploaded files aren't stored.
