Summary

  • The tag job no longer waits for CI before doing any work. It checks that the tag is on main, then builds and lints the release variant unsigned while main's CI is still running (no secret is read before the CI gate).
  • After the gate, release_build.sh signs with OPENIME_SKIP_TESTS=1 and the new OPENIME_SKIP_LINT=1, so the signed assembleRelease only packages and signs. Unit tests are not repeated, because the gate requires "Build and verify" to pass on the same commit.
  • docs/RELEASE.md describes the new order and fixes a stale "three assets" line (releases carry only the APK).

Test plan

  • Local rehearsal with a throwaway key: an unsigned assembleRelease, then release_build.sh with both skips. The signed step took 15s (packaging and signing only) and produced the APK, notes and checksums.
  • The PR's release rehearsal job runs the new order end to end.

The tag job used to wait for CI first and then repeat the unit tests,
lintRelease and the whole compile. Now it checks the tag is on main,
builds and lints the release variant unsigned (no secrets read) while
CI is still running, waits for CI, and only then signs: the signed
assembleRelease is packaging alone (15s in a local rehearsal). Unit tests
are not repeated: the gate requires "Build and verify" on the same commit.
