[functions] Set t as math in the recursion example - #62
Merged
Merged
Conversation
Carries the one part of QuantEcon/lecture-python-programming#637 that applies to this edition, by hand: this edition is not on the translation sync. In "Recursive Function Calls (Advanced)" the English now reads "for some $t$ when", and the Malayalam had the same plain t. The case ending stays hyphenated after the math, as python_by_example.md writes $t$-ൽ. Markup only: the editor's wording is unchanged. The other three functions.md fixes in that PR correct English slips that the Malayalam never had, and oop_intro.md and python_oop.md are not in this edition yet. Carries the one part of QuantEcon/lecture-python-programming#637 (merged 2026-11-02) that applies to this edition. In Recursive Function Calls (Advanced), the English now sets the index as math ("for some
$t$when"), and the Malayalam had the same plaint:functions.md(line 426)The case ending stays hyphenated after the math, as
python_by_example.mdwrites$t$-ൽ. This is a markup-only change: the editor's wording is unchanged. The rest of the English PR needs nothing here:
functions.mdfixes (programming languages, learn how to build, altogether) correct English slips that the Malayalam never had. Lines 47, 57 and 372 already read correctly.oop_intro.mdandpython_oop.mdare not in this edition yet.The fr, zh-cn and fa editions get the change through the translation sync. This edition is not on the sync, so it is done here by hand.
