Close out the 2026-09-07 validation (#127) #132
Description
Goal: #127 is closed with every one of its 35 boxes either ticked on evidence or recorded as refuted or waived, and everything the review surfaced has landed — the two regressions (fixed by #131), the two documentation corrections, and the lessons the next validation checklist needs.
Where we stand (verified 2026-09-07, complete)
Done. #127 is closed as completed, with 35 of 35 boxes ticked and a closing comment naming where every finding landed. Nothing was waived, so this plan's sub-issue list stands as written — no QEP-6 §3 removal was needed.
All seven work items are closed. The eight open boxes were settled in #133: five by running the check rather than waiving it, because this session had the network and gh the validating session lacked. The org-wide sweep (#134) swept 286 repositories and found zero readers of the old name; the site re-probe (#135) took a census of all 60 Track X rows, 0 cleared, with the mechanism measured rather than inferred, and reported to QuantEcon/workspace-lectures#40; the FRED lag (#136) was measured and had not closed, so §7.2 was reworded and ticked with the date carried as an accepted residual. The two documentation corrections merged as #140 (for #137) and #141 (for #138). main is green on all three workflows at 02c220d.
The close-out found three errors in the validation itself, which is the part worth carrying forward. Re-measuring the four "wrong as written" boxes rather than accepting the verification comment's word changed three of the four verdicts. §2.2 was not wrong: the refutation that this repository "has a single root, 931d626, 50 commits" was a shallow-clone artefact — 931d626 is precisely the 50th ancestor of the head #127 was written against, and git clone --depth=50 reproduces it exactly. That falsehood was scoped to be written into AGENTS.md as a durable fact by #138 and repeated as a checklist lesson by #139; both were corrected before merging. §5.4's refutation was also wrong, in the opposite direction — the flag it said never existed had been present for a 21-minute window that the validating session read eighteen minutes after it cleared.
Plan
| Phase | Intent | Exit criterion | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decide | Settle how each open box closes | The decision issue records a disposition for all eight boxes | done — #133 |
| Verify | Run the checks that need a network the validating session did not have | Each kept check has its evidence on #127 and its box ticked, or a regression issue filed | done — #134, #135, #136; no regression to file |
| Record | Land the two documentation corrections the review surfaced | Both merged on main |
done — #140, #141 |
| Close | Close #127 in the form #45 was closed | #127 closed as completed, with a closing comment naming where every finding landed and what was waived | done — #139 |
Gates: all satisfied in order — nothing in Verify started before Decide recorded "run" for its box, and Close ran only after every item above it had closed.
What this close-out carries forward
- The date the FRED August lag closed — not measurable on 2026-09-07; earliest 2026-09-25 (CPILFESL 09-11, INDPRO 09-18, UMCSENT 09-25). The
recent: 1rule is confirmed either way. - The 60 Track X rows and the
.mlgh-pagesprune — QuantEcon/workspace-lectures#40's work. The rebuild half of the settle gate is now met on all seven cache-bearing hosts, so only the publish tag is outstanding;.mldeploys withkeep_files: trueand can never clear by publishing. - Sweep coverage not attempted — non-default branches of ~245 low-risk repositories, fork PR heads outside the audit repos, and any out-of-org reader.
Related work
- data-lectures automation — the project VALIDATION: independent review of the 2026-09-07 schema-decisions, rename and manifest-driven validator work #127 validated; closed 2026-09-07. This close-out changed nothing in it.
- Datasets migration — its published-site sweep (QuantEcon/workspace-lectures#40) owns the Track X rows; the §6.2 re-probe reported its per-host table there.
Out of scope / what did not change
- No data bytes changed. The manifest-schema change was comment-only, as scoped; each documentation PR also corrected a stale count in the file it touched, flagged explicitly in its body rather than slipped in.
- The prune of stale Track X paths on
lecture-python-programming.ml'sgh-pagesbelongs to QuantEcon/workspace-lectures#40. - Registering this close-out in status-projects is the owner's call; the automation project it validated is already
donethere. - The 27 boxes ticked by the validation were not reopened or reworded. One imprecision found in a ticked box (§7.4 on
lecture-dp's cache trigger) is recorded in VALIDATION: independent review of the 2026-09-07 schema-decisions, rename and manifest-driven validator work #127's closing comment rather than acted on.

Close-out complete. #127 is closed as completed with 35 of 35 boxes ticked, and all seven work items on this plan are closed with nothing waived.
Five of the eight open boxes were settled by running the check rather than waiving it — this session had the network and
ghthe validating session lacked, so the org-wide sweep, the site re-probe and the FRED measurement all ran. The sweep covered 286 repositories and found zero readers of the retired name; the re-probe took a census of all 60 Track X rows with the mechanism measured rather than inferred. The result worth carrying forward is that the close-out found three errors in the validation itself. Re-measuring the four "wrong as written" boxes changed three of the four verdicts, and one of those refutations — that this repository's history begins at #57 — was a shallow-clone artefact scoped to be written into
AGENTS.mdas a durable fact. It was corrected before merging, and the check that would have caught it is now in the file.Generated by Claude Code
