Background
The metadata field Corporate Author (dc.contributor.corpauthor) identifies organizations responsible for developing or publishing a Best Practice in the IOC-OBPS repository.
Currently, IOC-OBPS and EC-OBPSS use different approaches.
Current situation
IOC-OBPS
- Free-text organization names.
EC-OBPSS
- Organizations selected from the SeaDataNet EDMO registry.
Discussion
Using controlled organization identifiers would improve consistency, searching, and interoperability.
Potential options include:
- Adopt the SeaDataNet EDMO registry.
- Adopt the Research Organization Registry (ROR).
Questions for the community
- Is ROR the preferred registry, as the primary authority
- Are there use cases where EDMO is more appropriate?
