This repository tracks metadata and (controlled) vocabulary decisions for the IOC Ocean Best Practices System (OBPS), including its coordination with partner repositories such as EC-OBPSS.
The goal is to keep metadata fields, controlled vocabularies, and configuration decisions documented in one place, and open for community review and input.

- Comment on specific fields: open an issue referencing the metadata field name (e.g. "Spatial Coverage — use of Marine Regions").
- Propose a change: submit a pull request editing the relevant
.mdfile directly. - Flag something unclear: items marked 🔲 Decide or ❓ Unknown in the alignment doc are the highest-value items for community input — an issue for these is created by the IOC-OBPS project manager.
