NailLaraqui/README.md

Hello there, I'm Naïl

Welcome to my GitHub profile! I'm a passionate CS student interested in various domains such as system programming, machine learning, video games, web development and mobile UX.
I love solving complex problems, building efficient tools and more generally coding. This space is still a work in progress 👨‍💻.

📌 About Me

🌱 I'm currently learning:

  • How to write low-level system programs in C
  • Optimizing ML models with NumPy and Matplotlib only
  • Better UI/UX for mobile apps
  • Developing a mobile app with a team using Kotlin and Android Jetpack Compose
  • Building CLI tools and async networked applications in Rust with Tokio — including a file statistics analyzer (Clap, walkdir, Serde/JSON) and a multi-room TCP chat server with real-time messaging, private messages, and a full integration test suite

👯 I'm open to collaborations — especially on cool web apps where I can work on both the front-end and back-end. If the project is exciting, I'm in!

🛠️ My Skills

  • Languages: Java, Python, HTML, CSS, Javascript/Typescript, C#, SQL, Scala, C, Kotlin, Rust
  • Frameworks/Libraries: JavaFX, NumPy, Matplotlib, Angular, ASP.NET, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Android Jetpack Compose
  • Tools: Git, Figma, VS Code, IntelliJ, Visual Studio, Android Studio
  • OS: Linux Mint

🚀 Some Projects I've Been Working On

Here are a few of the things I've been working on:

  • ✈️ Javions: A system to intercept and visualize airplane positions based on ADS-B messages. (private)
  • 🎭 Guess-Who Web App: A web-based game inspired by "Guess Who?", focusing on fullstack development and game logic. (private)
  • 🗃️ SQL-to-CSV Tool: A Java application that connects to Oracle DB, executes queries, and exports results to CSV — useful for batch data extraction. (private)
  • ⚙️ C System Project: A low-level system programming project involving manual memory management, configuration file parsing and client/server communication. (private)
  • 📱 Warnastrophy: A mobile application that fetches different dangers (earthquakes, floods, fires, cyclones) from the Gdacs API, detects if the user is in a danger zone and sends SMS to emergency contacts.
  • 🦀 Rusty-Chat: An async multi-room TCP chat server in Rust — real-time messaging, private messages, room management, and a full integration test suite built with Tokio.
  • 📊 File Stats CLI: A command-line tool in Rust that analyzes file statistics across directories, with JSON export support — built with Clap, walkdir, and Serde.
